About Sharpen Image

Photos from phone cameras, resized images, and compressed files often end up slightly soft. Xevon Tools' Sharpen Image tool uses an unsharp-mask algorithm — the same technique behind Photoshop and Lightroom sharpening — to enhance edges and bring out fine detail. A configurable slider lets you control the intensity, from a subtle clarity boost to aggressive edge recovery. The live preview updates in real time so you can compare the sharpened result against the original and find the right balance between crispness and noise. The tool supports JPG, PNG, and WebP formats and runs entirely in your browser, keeping your photos private. Common uses include rescuing soft phone photos, improving text clarity in scans, enhancing product photos for e-commerce, and restoring crispness to images that lost definition during compression or resizing. For best results, apply sharpening as the final step after all other edits and resizing are complete.

Frequently asked questions

Mild to moderate sharpening enhances edges without noticeably increasing noise. At very high settings you may see slight halos around edges or amplified grain in smooth areas, so use the preview to find the right balance.
Sharpening works best on slightly soft images where the detail is present but not crisp. It cannot recover detail lost to heavy motion blur or extreme out-of-focus shots.
The tool uses an unsharp mask technique that subtracts a slightly blurred copy of the image from the original, then adds the difference back to boost edges. This is the same approach used in Photoshop and Lightroom.
Sharpen after resizing. Resizing introduces some softness, so sharpening afterward gives the cleanest result. If you sharpen first and then downscale, you may lose the sharpening effect.
